The Truth About Massage Timing (What You’re Really Paying For)

You know that feeling when you book a “60-minute massage” and somehow… you’re back in your car 62 minutes later? Yeah, we don’t love that either.

At Stress Less Massage, when we say 60 minutes, we mean 60 full minutes on the table, not 50 minutes of massage followed by a quick exit. It sounds like a small thing, but it’s one of the ways we show respect for your time, your money, and your trust.

The Industry Norm (And Why We’re Not Into It)

Most spas and chains operate on a 50- or 55-minute “massage hour.” The remaining time is used for intake forms, undressing, dressing, and flipping the room for the next person. In high-volume settings, it’s about efficiency and turnover.

But let’s be real: if you think you’re expecting (and paying for) an hour of massage, and you’re only getting 50 minutes… that’s a little misleading. It’s not inherently unethical since they do tell you this in the fine print - it’s just not how we do things.

Our Approach: Time You Can Count On

When you book a session with us, your session length is hands-on time. A 60-minute massage means 60 minutes of massage. A 90-minute massage? You’ll be on the table for the full hour and a half.

We build time into our schedule for:

  • Talking with your therapist before the session

  • Getting undressed and redressed at your own pace

  • Post-massage questions, stretching tips, or follow-up suggestions

We do this because your experience matters. You should never feel rushed - especially not at a place called Stress Less Massage.

Why It Matters

When therapists are pressed for time, sessions feel transactional. The work becomes mechanical. There’s less time to listen, less time to assess, and definitely less time to adjust techniques based on what your specific needs.

Giving you the full time allows us to:

  • Be more thorough

  • Spend extra time on problem areas

  • Actually let you relax without watching the clock

A Better Session Starts with Better Boundaries

We’ve created a scheduling system that allows our therapists to take a breath between clients. That means better massages, lower burnout, and a more consistent experience every time you walk through the door.

So if you’re used to losing part of your session to chit-chat and chaos, come try a place where your hour actually lasts a whole hour.

At Stress Less Massage, we respect your time—and your muscles will thank you for it.
